Ethics for Legal Professionals When using Technology

FreeTechnology continues to reshape every aspect of our personal and professional lives. This ethics course is designed for new and seasoned legal professionals – attorneys, paralegals and staff members alike – to review and reinforce common ethical duties related to the use of technology. The course zeroes in on the most common ethical issues that arise daily across all legal roles and best practices for using social media and the open web, conducting legal and factual research, and adopting emerging AI technology solutions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Identify what technology competence means for your daily work,
including the applicable model rules.
• Review basic guidelines for using social media in and out of the law
department.
• Understand the dangers of conducting research on the open web.
• Identify potential problems when failing to conduct proper legal
research.
• Explore the risks and benefits of using emerging technologies
which offer legal analytics or utilize artificial intelligence.
• Examine best practices for communicating with clients and
preserving confidentiality when using technology solutions for legal
projects.
This is an hour long CLE entitled Ethics for Legal Professionals when Using Technology. This will be a live training, held over Zoom.
