The mystery of cryptocurrency requires a specialized level of understanding as it is a complex and emerging topic. Cryptocurrency is becoming a new language, in an array of fields such as banking, investment, and the law. The vast amount of information available about cryptocurrency across many different platforms has grown exceptionally since the birth of the first cryptocurrency in 2009. This technology and the various ways to access the information impact how attorneys practice and uphold the law. Cryptocurrency also brings forth more issues and new laws that your clients may face. This course will get you up to speed on the latest cryptocurrency concerns as well as teach you how to find current resources and regulations to increase your knowledge. The goal of this course is to support attorneys in understanding what cryptocurrency is, what are the statutes and legislation that currently govern cryptocurrency, and the various in-depth resources regarding cryptocurrency that research platforms provide to attorneys and support staff.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
• Understand the history of cryptocurrency as well as
common vocabulary associated with cryptocurrency;
• Discovery methods for conducting research with
different full cryptocurrency citations and sample news
searches;
• Establish the multiple ways to filter your searches before
and after searching for specific terms;
• Gain an understanding of how online platforms have
been enhanced to predict what you’re looking for;
• Ascertain the multiple resources available on search
platforms to learn about cryptocurrency regulation and
current Department of Justice litigation involving
cryptocurrency; and
• Organize and save items found conducting online legal
research.
